When you create an account and use TapOut, we collect:
- Phone Number: Used for authentication and account verification (required)
- Username: Your chosen display name (required)
- Profile Information: Fighting style, experience level, weight class, height, profile picture (optional)
- Location Data: Real-time GPS coordinates when you enable location services and use the map feature
- Match Statistics: Wins, losses, draws, rank, and match history
- Chat Messages: Conversations with other users through our in-app messaging system
2. Automatically Collected Information
When you use the App, we automatically collect:
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers
- Usage Data: App features used, screens viewed, actions taken, time spent in the app
- Location Data: Approximate location (latitude/longitude) when location services are enabled
- Crash and Error Logs: Technical information about app crashes and errors via Firebase Crashlytics

How We Share Your Information
We DO NOT sell your personal information to third parties.
1. With Other Users
Your profile information (username, fighting style, experience level, profile picture, stats, rank) is visible to other users when:
- You appear on the map (if location sharing is enabled)
- You send or receive match requests
- You participate in matches
- You appear on the rankings leaderboard
Your phone number is NEVER shared with other users.
2. With Service Providers
We share information with trusted third-party service providers (Google/Firebase, Google Maps). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for providing services to us.
3. Legal & Business
We may disclose info for legal reasons (court orders, safety) or during business transfers (mergers/acquisitions).
Location Data Privacy
How We Use Location Data
- Location data is collected only when you enable location services and are actively using the map feature.
- Location tracking automatically stops when you navigate away from the map screen or the app goes to the background.
- Your exact location is never stored permanently - we only store an approximate location (geohash) for finding nearby fighters.
- You can disable location sharing at any time in your profile settings.
Privacy Controls
- Toggle location sharing on/off in your profile.
- Location updates stop immediately when disabled.
- Other users see your approximate area (within 1-5 km), not your exact location.
- Location data is not used for advertising or sold to third parties.
Data Retention & Rights
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. Specifically:
- Profile Data: Retained while active.
- Match History: Retained indefinitely for rankings.
- Chat Messages: Retained for 1 year.
- Location Data: Not stored persistently (only approximate/transient).
Your Data Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA, you have rights to Access, Rectification, Erasure, Restriction, Portability, Objection, and Withdrawal of Consent. Contact support to exercise these rights.
How to Delete Your Data

3. Tap "Delete My Data"
4. Confirm deletion
All personal data will be deleted within 30 days. Match statistics may be anonymized.
Other Important Information
Data Security
We use HTTPS/TLS encryption, Firebase Security Rules, and phone authentication. While we strive for security, no internet transmission is 100% secure.
Children's Privacy
TapOut is NOT intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
International Transfers
Your data may be processed on servers (Firebase/Google Cloud) outside your country, protected by appropriate safeguards.
Changes to Policy
We may update this policy. Significant changes will be notified via app, push, or email. Continued use implies acceptance.
